What a very cool long weekend! Hanging out with B-diddy, Spitzes, Mays and Grays! We also got Debbie moved in to the Mequon property and did it all in one day! Brandon rode down on his bike and we did some riding around MKE and saw LOTS of sweet looking bikes. Having Harley 105th around the Milwaukee area was awesome. I loved seeing bikes everywhere and hearing the sweet sounds of V-twins from Port Washington to Pewaukee.
This weekend is the Hurler’s Ball on Friday and CJ and Elane’s wedding on Saturday. This will be a busy and fun weekend. We are looking forward to seeing everyone again
We made it down to the Milwaukee County Zoo for an afternoon and had a great time too. There was even time to ride the train
Later that night we headed over to Taylor and Dunn’s for a dinner with Mandie and John but we forgot that they were closed on Mondays. DOOH. We will have to get our corned beef fix in just a little bit. Taylor and Dunn’s have some delicious food. Stop over soon! Oh well. We headed over to another staple location. The Highland House. Service has picked up considerably and we had a great time catching up with the Mays too. Friday night we hung out with the Grays and saw their newly remodeled basement and they will soon have a newly remodeled 1st floor and adding a 2nd floor too. Things are going to be a bit crazy for them very quickly! Good luck!
Taking off work on Tuesday after a long weekend rules too! Hehe
Harley Fest!

Well Harley’s 105th is looking like an excellent time. I stopped over at Hal’s Harley on Wed and Thurs for lunch to walk around, see the sights and grab some grub. It is awesome to see all the bikes on the road everywhere. I think this weekend B, Lisa and I might stop in at Suburban Harley in Thiensville.
One more week until the Milwaukee Hurling Club has their Gala/Ball. We are excited to be heading to our 1st one this year. That Saturday, Lisa and I will be heading out to Madison to CJ and Elane’s wedding. I am stoked to catch up with everyone there too. I may be able to stretch the kilt rental for both nights too
This Saturday, we are moving mom in to the Mequon property and next week, Aunt Jean will be moving in and Keith will be along to help too. Lisa, mom and I have been there this week cleaning it up after the last tenants and trying to get the yard back in shape too. It will be so much nicer having family closer to us!
Anyone looking for some awesome snowboarding / skiing gloves?
Blowing up?

The powers that be are looking at tearing down the Hoan Bridge in Milwaukee. Yup. The one made famous in the Blues Brothers movie. (fromOnMilwaukee.com).

Thanks for all the support for Lisa and I with the great news then loss. We will keep trying and let all know. We greatly appreciate all our friends and family with this. Everyone has been wonderful.

Wow, Irish Fest weekend flew by. It was great to be there for a few days, see all the old faces, talk to a bunch of people, listen to some music, see some dancing, eat and drink our way through and watch the youth groups in Hurling. Those little guys sure can hit! Irish Fest usually means the end of summer for many people. Teachers are getting back to school for pre-meetings, camps are starting to finish up and all the back to school sales are in full swing. One last big party will be at the end of this month for Harley Davidson’s 105th. This event is taking over almost all of Milwaukee. Foo Fighters, Bruce Springstreen and the E Street Band, ZZ Top, Black Crowes and a bunch of others are performing at the party. There are also dealer parties, block parties and just about everyone turning “Harley” this weekend. It should be a blast!
Just in time for the party too…..The Bronze statue of “The Fonz” is up! Check out the pictures of all the cast that showed up.
I know I have seen Pimp my Ride but has anyone seen some “Geek my Ride” cars before?
Irish Fest!

Oh yea! Today is the 1st Day of Irish Fest! Lisa and I are heading down to The Grand Hooley tonight for the Where’s Your Paddy happy hour. Jameson will also be having a tasting tent (open Fri, Sat and Sun). Get shown your way around the whiskey by an official Jameson Irish Whiskey Ambassador from Ireland! I am looking forward to stopping over at McBob’s for some Corned Beef too….ahh yummy! Also, everyone should stop over at the Tippeary Tea Room and say hi to the Kendellens and grab some nice Irish Coffee, Guinness Cheesecake and awesome cookies and scones.
The Carrolls are also having their Clan Reunion. The McCarville’s name sake came from the Carrolls so we talked with Joesph Carroll (Former Milwaukee Hurling Club member too!) and we will be stopping in and saying hi too!
Poke!

Ouch. Well, some good and bad news about getting contacts. Friday after work I stopped in for my lesson for contacts. We started with the left eye and I could get the contact on but not to stay on. Every time I looked to either side, it would keep slipping off. Well, we took a break and put on the right eye and that one took right away. Ahh. Now I know how they are supposed to feel. After 5 or so minutes, I could barely feel that contact in my right eye. Well, back to the left eye. After cleaning the lens again and trying, we were still not successful. We tried a 2nd lens just in case and still the same result. At least the new glasses are in and fit great! I will be heading back there Monday after work to try with a different size daily disposable lens. The fitting ran a little bit over so I was just a touch late to meet up with Sandra for training. There was lots more strength training going on Friday. Ouch! Feels good now but things are starting to crank up harder again.
Sunday we headed out to State Fair with the Spitz’s and had a blast. We met up with Mike and Erika’s trainer Peter who was competing at a body building tournament at the Fair then walked around for a while. Mike, Erika and I took David, Abby and Emma down the big slide and we also caught the pig races, duck race and the swimming pig. Lisa and I could not stay too long because we had to head up to the Shamrock Club’s picnic at the Milwaukee Hurling Club playoff matches. That was a blast there! The turn out was amazing. If every weekend was like that, I know there would be more sponsors and even larger turnouts for the MHC. Thanks Shamrock Club! It was an excellent time playing for you guys in the Milwaukee Hurling Club. I will be back next year to play.
IRISH FEST THIS WEEK!! WOOT! See “all ya all” there!
Getting busy again

Holy cow. Life is picking up again for the end of the summer. This weekend is not too bad. Mandie May has her Birthday this Sunday and the team I play for (SHAMROCK CLUB) in the Milwaukee Hurling Club is hosting their annual picnic all day long at Brown Deer park during the Milwaukee Hurling Club PLAYOFFS! Come over and check out the game, meet folks in the Shamrock Club and check out free food, the games, dancing, demonstrations, music and more. The picnic will start at NOON and go until 6pm. At 12:30 PM, the #2 seed Tracks will be playing against the #3 seed Packy’s. Around 2pm (ish) the #1 seed Milwaukee Ale House will be taking on the #4 seed Wolski’s.
Monday night is the 1st Green Bay Packer’s pre-season FOOTBALL! I know that just about everyone is done about the drama with #4 and the Packers but things are settled. Lets just get on with the game again! An early Happy Birthday to my cousin Colleen on the 12th! Have a good one!
Thurs Aug 14th - Sunday Aug 17th is IRISH FEST! Woo Hoo! Stop over at the Tipperary Tea Room and say hi to the Kendellens while you pick up one of their awesome cheesecakes, tortes, cookies or scones. You can get your “Powers” on there too with the coffee. That Saturday and Sunday of Irish Fest, the Milwaukee Hurling Club will have many demonstrations/scrimmages going on too. I may stop in one of the general scrimmages and play for a bit.
If you can’t get enough Irish Fest, the following weekend (22nd, 23rd and 24th). Head down to Peoria, IL for their Erin Feis celebration. Some memebers from the Milwaukee Hurling Club will be heading down there for some fun and scrimmages. Also on Sunday the 24th is the Milwaukee Hurling Club FINAL GAME of the season. This should be a blast! Anyone have predictions?
Labor Day weekend Lisa and I will be doing a walk through with our current renters in the Mequon house as they head out and we will be packing up the U-Haul with my mother in law and moving her and her sister Jean in. Debbie will be going in on the 31st / 1st and Jean will be driving in with Lisa’s cousin on Friday Sept 5th so we will be helping with the moving that next weekend too. My brother in law Matt has his birthday that Tuesday the 2nd too.
That Friday the 5th is also the Milwaukee Hurling Club’s Gala and that Saturday is Steve and Sarah’s wedding and CJ and Elane’s wedding. Now this is where is starts to get busy. Lisa and I were also trying to get out to Arizona to catch up with Toby and Kelly before they have their 1st child too. It looks like we might have to wait a bit and catch up with them after their new little one is born.
Weekend

Well the Hurling team I have been playing with ended the season with one more win. We played against the County Claire. I felt that as a team, we were having a fun time and that was one of the reasons we were able to pull it together. I even had 2 attempts on goal this game. I feel that next season this should be able to be more fine tuned. I just have to get the the basics down so they are 2nd nature. I still have to think of too many things when sprinting down towards the goal. Also a big thanks to Lisa for getting friends and family to the game too. It was awesome to see everyone there. There was also a cook out that Lisa put together and it was great catching up with everyone there too. Thanks again to the Shamrock Club of Wisconsin for sponsoring this years team. I had a blast playing this season and I am looking forward to the play offs and finals coming up over the next few Sundays. I know that myself and the team as well as the rest of the club is looking forward to this Sunday for the Shamrock Club’s picnic at the pitch.
The captain of the Shamrock Club’s Hurling team Dan McAuliffe was over in Ireland last week competing in the Poc Fada (long ball hurling). Dan ended up 10 strokes behind the 4 time leader and was also the 1st American to be invited to this tournament. We also still have to hear how Dan kept up in the pubs after the event too
Congrats Dan!
It looks like we are going to be getting new renters in the Mequon house. We received notice from our current people that they can’t continue to be there and after interviewing and showing the house to a few couples, we were able to get 2 great people to rent the house with in hours of showing the house. Aunt Jean and Debbie are going to be “moving on up” and LIsa and I could not be happier! It looks like this Labor Day weekend is going to be pretty busy.
A huge congrats to Sara Bauer this past weekend on her marriage!
Banning more?
